“After The Gap Band’s success, I struggled with homelessness and addiction. I entered rehab, meeting my future wife, a counselor at the facility,” he continues regarding the inspiration for Superman. “She put the cape on my back and we’ve been rollin’ ever since (28 years). This song is also for all women, their strength, love and support is appreciated more than they know.”
The new single is an ode to Wilson’s love for music and faith in himself and his ability to overcome any obstacle. He sings, “I’m gonna be Superman, no matter what it takes”. His message of resilience is a reminder that anything is possible with determination and hard work.
“Superman” is Wilson’s first single release in more than a year. He previously released his No. 1 hit “No Stoppin’ Us,” featuring Babyface, K-Ci Hailey and Johnny Gill.
