Xondra prepares for upcoming visual EP “Tedious And Brief” in support of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence after film festival success. Coming off her multiple film festival nominations for “I Wrote This Instead of Calling You,” an official selection of the Aphrodite Film Awards, The London Music Video Festival, and the We Make Movies International Film Festival, Xondra is looking to take a larger exploration into creating visual storytelling to go along with her music through her new visual EP, Tedious & Brief.

The E.P. covers the story of a young domestic violence victim going through the challenges of survival while reclaiming her voice. To fully execute this film, Xondra has curated a crowdfunding campaign to raise $5000 for the shoot in its entirety. Her goal is to raise enough to be able to fully bring this story and vision to life. If Xondra’s campaign reaches over $5000, she has pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds to The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

“Tedious & Brief is a story of survival. It is a scream of truth in a room of hushed voices. I wrote the songs with the visual in mind. This is the first body of work that I created a whole world for. I didn’t write this story for myself, though I admit writing it helped save me in a way,” says Xondra. “I wrote this story for all of the people who have been hurt by the people who were supposed to love and keep you safe. I wrote this film for all the people learning to speak up even if their voice trembles. I’ve had this story in mind for you from the very beginning of this process. Please help me tell it.”

Xondra (she/they) is the musical moniker of Alexondra O’Connell, born to Cuban/Puerto Rican and Irish parents and raised on Long Island, New York. She had a love of songwriting from when she was very young, sitting next to the radio and jotting down lyrics she liked and putting them together to make her own songs. She wrote and performed songs at bars and venues all over New York when she was in high school until she went off to college to study contemporary songwriting. Xondra plays a mixed palette of Pop/Rock/R&B/Indie.

They have played acoustic and full band shows in the NYC and tri-state area DIY scene since 2014. The pop singer/songwriter started honing their skills in the heart of the SUNY Purchase Music Conservatory. They bring feminist themes to the front with a heartbreakingly honest delivery that will have you connecting to the universal experience of being a woman in a man’s world.

Focusing on world-building and overarching storylines, there are often small hidden connections between songs all throughout her work.
